Yen Sim, the Global Branding Director of retail FX and CFDs broker Vantage, separated from the company last Friday, Finance Magnates learned exclusively. She parted ways after spending little more than a couple of years with the broker and executing some major branding overhauls.

“It has been my privilege to work with some of the specialists in the forex trading industry. My colleagues are a joy to work with, and I will take with me precious memories of these wonderful people whom I will dearly miss,” Sim said.

Vantage Underwent Major Branding Overhaul under Sim

She joined the Singapore offices of Vantage in December 2000, taking charge of branding strategies of the Australia-headquartered brokerage brand. There, she set up a “pure” branding department for the broker, which in the industry is often handled by the marketing or corporate communications team.

Sim and her team rebranded the broker, Vantage from VantageFX, which was a major overhaul for aligning its branding with multi-asset trading services offerings, not just forex, for a global expansion. She also stressed introducing ESG to the brokerage space, resulting in Vantage partnering with UNESCO and UNHCR. She even played a role in the broker’s strategic partnership with McLaren (MX) Extreme E team.

“I thought that moving on to ‘greener pastures’ will be easy, but apparently, it is not so,” Sim added in her farewell speech addressed to Vantage and her team.

“I’ve had an incredibly enriching experience working here, and I’ve worked with many great and wonderful people over the years, not to mention the friendships I’ve forged. I enjoyed every moment of my time here, and I am so blessed to have worked with you all. I would like to thank each and every one of you who have helped me along the way.”

However, she did not publicly reveal her next career move yet.

Apart from her tenure at Vantage, she also spent about another 14 years in the communications and branding team of many other companies. According to her Linkedin profile, she kicked off her career in early 2006 at SPH Media. She later joined the branding department of several other companies, including MediaCorp, Parkway Group Healthcare, Fullshare Group International (China), and Gromark Consumers Enterprise.
