The Dow Industrial Average moved back into positive territory briefly with a gain of 5.46 points. That erased a decline of -220.44 points. U.S. industrial output falls sharply in December, sparking talk of factory ‘recession’
The number: U.S. industrial production fell 0.7% in December, the Federal Reserve reported Wednesday. It is the biggest monthly decline since September 2021.
